Beer Exposed – and a SPECIAL OFFER

When we’re not worrying about the happiness of you, dear Kudocities member, or how to alleviate world poverty, we think about beer. A lot. Lovely, lovely beer.
Now two blokes who must also think about beer a lot have launched a stylish new event – called BEER EXPOSED. It already sounds sexy to us. And the kindly organisers have given you lucky people a fat discount. You can get a fiver off a ticket if you go to their website here and type OFFER in the special code box of the ticket page.
In their own special marketing speak: “Beer Exposed is a stylish new event to expand your perception of beer and provide ultimate end of week socializing.”
This particular sophisticated meet-up not in a brewery takes place next weekend – from Thursday 25 September to Saturday 27 September 2008 at the Business Design Centre, Upper Street, Islington.
It promises to showcase a new generation of artisan beers, as well as some of the most famous beers of the world, and UK favourites. Taste the diversity of over 100 beers from 80 breweries, from Ethiopia to Colorado via Clackmannanshire, and explore gastronomic food matches.
But it’s not just about pretending to be all interested in the providence of your bevvy; you can actually learn stuff too, as long as you’re not too ‘tired and emotional’. Beer Exposed will show you how to choose beer as an alternative to wine when matching with food.
For instance, did you know Jamaican Stout enhances a chocolate dessert, or that triple fermented Belgian ale is ideal with cheese?
You can try smoked beer, and chocolate and coffee porters. There’s even a beer from the Alsace region, brewed with champagne yeast.
There will also be competitions to win a weekend in a Belgian brewery hotel, or a weekend to create your own batch of beer in a fully operational Suffolk micro-brewery.
And you can meet ‘brew masters’ from around the globe, as well as the chance to shout ‘Gold!’ at none other than Spandau Ballet’s Tony Hadley, who runs a brewery these days, called Red Cat. Promise us you will shout ‘Gold!’ if you do see him, apparently he loves it.
Des Mulcahy and Matt Roclawski, co-founders of Beer Exposed, have been tireless in their search to track down some real discoveries. Des says: “We have persuaded some of the world’s most unusual beers to come to London. Creating such an expansive offering has been a challenge, and we are really excited to see this unique collection.
“The heritage of beer is part of a nation’s great history. People often experience a new beer after visiting a new country, and flavours, food and holidays are fondly fixed in their memory. Everyone has their favourite, so we’re looking forward to some healthy debate too, as the merits of the best beers are compared by visitors and experts alike.”
Tickets range from £14 to £20 and include ‘interactive beer & food tutored tastings’, expert-accompanied beer walks, and more.
If you’re as excited as we are, go here to find out more.
