Would you like to hear train drivers quote Gandhi on the Tube?

This says “The words of Gandhi, Einstein, Jean Paul Satre and other great thinkers are to be quoted in service announcements on London’s Underground”.
Artist Jeremy Deller has compiled a selection of philosophical quotes that tube drivers will read out. Good idea, bad idea? Have you heard any? What was the reaction from you and others?
For a sub-discussion: “Deller’s original plan was to abolish all public address announcements for a day…But his idea was vetoed by managers”. How would you like that?

Interesting, would add the the many driver messages put out each day at the moment.
This train has eight carriages, each with three doors. not the other way round.

I’d much prefer the drivers being allowed to use their own wit in messages:
“Ladies and gentlemen we’re just waiting for another train to leave the station before stopping at the platform. I’d sing to you all to pass the time but I might get the sack for abusing passengers. I suggest you sing to yourselves.”
Brilliant.

premiumNo philosophy, no quotes, no singing, no ads, no whimsy and no announcements either, except for one at the beginning of each day: “I’m sorry for the inevitable lateness of your journey this morning and again this evening, this is due to the fact that you are travelling on the London Underground.”
Some special exceptions may also be made for terrorist activity.

A bit of spontaneous humor is always nice from tube drivers.
Hearing the same quote for the 5th day in a row, when your train is on a go slow for the 5th day in a row, is likely to tip people over the edge.

premiumI did hear, the other day: “Which part of ‘stand clear of the doors’ is rocket science?”
I’ve asked this question yonks ago but it never got any replies I don’t think, so I’m going to ask again: Does anybody remember the station announcer at Liverpool Street Station (he was generally on the eastbound Central Line platform) who had a really deep voice and would announce things like “Don’t worry if you miss this train, there’s another one behind this and another one behind that and…” He also sometimes used to use Sooty puppets when he was in his little guard box.

On a circle line sitting at Edgware road the other morning.
There we sat then the driver piped up. Sorry the delay today folks, we have arrived a little early so won’t be leaving here until 7:27. Once the district line train has left platform 2, a Hammersmith and City train will arrive, this will leave before we do, so anyone wishing to board this train is welcome. except bearing on mind the time, the Hammersmith and City line train will be packed. If you currently have a seat on this train, I’d advise you to stay where you are.
The H&C came in, packed as per message. Then the driver piped up again and said, are you sitting comfortably. look over to platform 2, told you it would be packed. now aren’t you glad you stayed where you were.

I have another one:
At Camden Town last night, an female announcer with an accent I couldn’t place used her best circus announcer voice to let us all know that “This train stops at Tottenham Court Road, Leicester Square and other lovely places like that. Please mind the closing doors and have a good weekend”.
Actually seemed happy to be there saying it too. How rare.
