Where can I find Wheely Bag?

I was at a brilliant four-day garage-surf rave in Benidorm last year called The Wild Weekend at which a London-based mobile DJ called Wheely Bag greeted the people queueing up. He was a curious fellow, playing some excellent rockabilly 45s on some decks mounted on a strange mobile tray covered with dancing dolls. I ...

Does anyone know anything different I can do in Soho tonight? Instead of the usual going to a bar and drinking I’d like to take my friend and do something a little different!

A quiet spot in Soho?

I have to meet some people in Soho of an early evening. I have to record the conversation for work purposes, so anywhere with loud music or busy is out of the question. Any ideas people? A bar or café would be best. Was thinking of the Phoenix Theatre Bar or something. Is that noisy?

I know we had a thread that was nearly but not quite about this but I need more specific suggestions. For my up-coming birthday celebrations (there will be a lot of them) I am having a karkoke night for all my lady friends only (sorry boys) and we want to go somewhere central and public. So none of these priva...

Hi All, I’ve got a bunch of friends coming to visit next saturday. As I’m new to London I haven’t got a clue to take them on a night out. We like pubs, indie music and clubs. Bit vague I know, but can anyone suggests a few good places thats good to go out? Cheers!

What’s a pseudo-intellectual gay boy looking for some conversation to do?

I recently had quite the misadventure in Soho. I went looking for a gay club that didn’t fulfil the sexed-up stereotypes to no avail. Where can a gay twenty-something go when he’s more interested in stimulating conversation than dance floor copulation?

Does anyone know of a decent, nay, a SHIT-HOT hairdresser in W1 or WC2? My evil hairdresser has abandoned me to go travelling around the world – I get the odd mis-spelt email from Goan beach cafes, where he’s lounging indolently with yoga-babes while my “difficult” barnet gets more and mo...

I’m a big fan of Christopher Fowler, lots of his books are based in and around Soho. There’s been a mention on his website that the book Roofworld is in development for film. It could be a fantastic film with some great London locations – anyone know anything more about it, or even worked on it...

Has anyone else been accosted by ‘Captain America’ outside The Dog and Duck in Soho? Apparently he’d just defrosted and was desperate for some ‘lovin’. magico72

Where's good to eat in Chinatown?

I’d be glad to know, if someone could tell me, which Chinese restaurant to go to in Chinatown. I must have eaten their a dozen times, and had some good meals, some bad meals, some excellent meals, but I don’t have it firmly fixed in my mind where to go. Or where not to go. I’m bored of the fact tha...

Can I recommend a restaurant?

Myself and my girlfriend went into the west end on Saturday as we were going to see a film at the British Museum and wanted something to eat beforehand. We ended up in Soho (not as pleasurable as it was 25 years ago, but that’s a different moan for another day). We went to a very nice little place called ̵...

What places have given you food poisoning?

I just spent the hottest weekend of the year serving up lashings of lumpy bum gravy to my toilet, desperately trying to stem the flow with immodium, which is bad for you, I am told by all and sundry. This is the third time in about nine months that I have been food poisoned and the thing I hate the most about it ...

On behalf of a friend who has been too crap to sign up to join us on here (I’m still working on him) I wonder if anyone can recommend where to head for after hours drinking when you are out in the centre of town and don’t yet want to head home. I know the new licensing laws were meant to solve this Londo...

Where can I get good ramen?

A recent trip abroad has reminded me of exactly how good ramen can be, so now I’d like to fuel my newly-found noodles-and-pork-and-egg-and-stuff-in-soup addiction here at home. So… do any noodle lovers out there know of a good restaurant that serves traditional ramen – preferably with a couple of v...

Me, my boss and another bloke from our music team are all leaving work next week and we want to have a fairly raucous knees up to send us on our way. As the usual genius who organises these things has swanned off to New York for a week, we need to sort it ourselves and sharpish, so next Wed/Thursday. We work in S...
